Attempt at Luxury
I wanted to end my trip in luxury, having not managed to be truly luxurious all trip - even in Monaco, I only ended up paying 70 or 80 bucks for a double room. So I asked the bus driver if the hotel he was going to, the Radisson Executive, was nice, and he said it was, so I went there. Despite my best efforts at hotel choosing, they only charged my 150$ - not much for a room in a 5 star hotel. I mean, this place has heated towel racks, pants pressers, tv's with keyboards that you can pay 15$ an hour for internet on, the works. I turned the tv up loud before a shower only to discover it wasnUt needed, there is a speaker in the bathroom. nice digs. I had an excellent dinner at the restaraunt, chatting with the maitre d. Again, despite a 3 course meal, various tidbits before during and after, a cocktail, two glasses of wine, coffee afterwards, and all the trimmings, it only came out to 90$. I just wasn't managing to spend that much money. Oh well.
Just before I left, 4 people sat down at the next table, and after straining my ears, i eventually concluded that they were speaking occasional bits of Hungarian! So as I stood up and walked away, I gave them a solid "Viszontlatasra" (formal goodbye in hungarian), and they smiled and said "Viszlat" and I hurried off before they could discover how little else I knew of their language. Hopefully they were left with an unexpected smile.
So i fly home in the morning. wahoo! Sorry this email wasn't exciting, but I'm logy from a huge dinner, and the past week is really hazy, and while I had fun, there just wasn't that much to tell about. I'll be sending one more mail, wrapping everything up, plus a special hungarian supplement to those of you who will appreciate it.
ta ta, everyone.
really, lots more little things happened than I said. and they were fun. but i haven't been gettin' enough sleep, and i haven't been writin' in my notebook, and I hain't been emailin', so its just gonna hafta go into the abyss. later.
