Flower Food (7/15/03)

Well, the olive oil diet didn't last long. The gnawing, gaping hole in our stomachs that clamored for sustenance (not just calories) was a bit of a downer. We lasted through 24 hours, then gave up. There won't be a next time, but if there was, I think fiber would be a good additional ingredient, in order to make us feel more full. Oh, and if I was starving due to poverty, you'd better keep a sharp eye on them apples 'n loaves of bread, or they'd disappear.

I've finished two more books from sunday's Powell's trip. First, _The Grand Sophy_, an exquisite Georgette Heyer romance heretofore unbeknownst to me. Second, _Flowers for Algernon_, a Hugo and Nebula winning SF book of good repute. It was about a moron who is given an experimental treatment to raise his intelligence. I cried when I finished it.
