Introduction, BARGE & Pennsic
As usual, lots of exciting things have been happening to me, but I've been too busy living life to stop and write it all down. Not only have I spent half of the past couple months on the road, I've started working part-time with some friends on a fun little internet project and acquired a girlfriend, so time has been at a premium. Still, its important to keep y'all up to date, so on this lazy saturday morning I shall pour forth a selection of my adventures.
August is now festival season in Patri's life, and it may remain that way forever. First, I headed to vegas for BARGE, the Big August Rec Gambling Excursion, an annual meeting of the online poker community. I played a lot and slept very little, and after several days of the unhealthy vegas scene, full of smoke and lighting that never changes (as if my circadian rhythms aren't messed up enough already), I was ready to high-tail it outta there to the east coast for the Pennsic War.
Pennsic is an annual tradition in my life, and for me this was the 16th in a row and 17th total. Given that I'm 24, you can see why summer and Pennsic are inseperably intertwined for me. For those who don't know, Pennsic is the largest annual gathering of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), the freaks who dress up in midieval clothes and re-enact history for fun.
