Katy

Due to a strange web coincidence, the denizens of Leota Manor had come in contact with a woman named Katy this spring (she was the cute redhead at our housewarming party), who knew a lot of very interesting Bay Area people who she'd been introducing us to. People who own group houses like ours (Geekhaus, The Sneaky Frog), are interested in intentional communities (Geeksville), and go to burning man. In fact, they run a popular BM project called Freezing Man, which is an ice cream truck that wanders through the desert dispensing frozen treats to those lucky enough to have a coupon. Katy had organized a Sifter dinner, just before BM, for people to get together and talk about their projects, that we all went to and was a lot of fun. By the time BM began, I had a major crush on her, but we didn't know where she was camping, and we weren't camped with the lamplighters, so we didn't find each other for most of the week. Fortunately, there were the Hempseed Pancakes.

A nearby camp cooked pancakes every morning for any and all who had items of barter from their list, and we went there every day for breakfast. On Sunday, the day before we were to leave, we wandered over there as usual, and there was Katy, behind the counter, serving up pancakes in exchange for songs. She & I were inseperable for the rest of the day, which included the coolest project I saw at Burning Man, and then she headed to Tahoe in the evening, but not before we'd agreed to see each other again. More on that later...
