Inspired by the profound event that lies but a few short weeks away, the renowned hairstylist Jeremy Plunkett has worked his magic, causing the letters "Y2K" to be write large and bold on the back of Patri's head. The image conjures apocalyptic visions of millenial madness - suggestings gangs of skinheads or militant extremists. One expects to see it on street rioters, national guardsmen, far-out cultists. It invokes all the rich, hackneyed imagery that our culture has created around, not only the turning of the century, but those particular three letters. When we think of the 60's, we think long hair, the 70's, afro's, and the 80's, huge hairsprayed monstrosities. Every age has its hairstyle, and now, finally, in the last days before the darkness falls, 1999 has its own. The predictions of chaos, the backlash assuring us of normalcy, technophilia and neo-Ludditism, the colossal power of the media, the parties, the concerts, the fireworks, the questions about our role on earth and in the universe, the escalating power of science, all of these things lurk within this ubiquitious symbol, and thus are now present on the outside of Patri's head, as they have been on the inside for quite some time.
So harken all unto the words of the Prophet Patri. Freaks and Deviants of the world, rejoice, for the world remains our playground. Market Players, have no thoughts of pulling out, for the new year will be a prosperous one, as long as ye do not succumb to foolish panic (and besides, your Prophet's Portfolio might suffer). Sinners, do not bother to repent, for there will be plenty of sinning to be done in the age to come. Let all raise their voices in joy and song, for the new age is almost upon us.
