Hot Tub's & Headaches (11/11/00)
Its been over a week, but I am still experiencing pretty much constant nagging pain. I used the last vicodin this morning, and my headache hasn't let up for days. I've been taking 2 aspirin and 2 ibuprofen, and wishing I had some naproxyn and acetaminophen so I could make it 2 of everything. OTC painkillers don't seem to do much, but I always hope for at least a placebo effect.
Its cold outside, so as a form of rebellion we started the hot tub going. Since I can't be anywhere without internet, I rigged up a water proof (or at least, water-resistant) container for my laptop from a clear plastic bag and some saran wrap. The plastic bag worked well, except for over the keyboard, where it wasn't sensitive enough, so I cut out a section and replaced it with the saran wrap, which works wonderfully. I'll have to remember this for burning man, to keep the playa dust out.
So I'm now sitting in my hot tub in my grassless california backyard, typing on my powerbook and watching the little green lights flash on my Lucent WaveLAN card as I surf the net over our house's 802.11b wireless network.
Speaking of the house, I think we've finally settled on a name: Alpine Butterfly Lodge. The Alpine Butterfly, besides sounding kinda neat, is an important knot. It can be tied in the center of a line without using the ends, and it is structural against pulls from any of the three directions. We wanted a name that shortened to something nice (in this case, "The Lodge"), and the classic "adjective-animal" format is also nice, as in "The Sneaky Frog", or "Pink Fuzzy Bunny" which uses the powerful SCA-clan-name-generating-format of color-adjective-animal.
