Stupid Intro (11/4/00)

Hi. My library of writings about my life and adventures has undergone a change. For one thing, influenced by some similar projects, I've started calling it a "journal". For another, I've decided to make the entries a lot shorter, for ease of both reading and writing.

To make this entry less boring, I shall tell a brief parable. I like parables.

A horse was about to swim across a river, when a scorpion called out to it.

"Hey, give me a ride across", said the poisonous beast.

"Uh, OK", replied the horse. "Say, you aren't going to sting me, are you?"

"Of course not. How would that help me get to the other side?" was the logical reply.

"OK, hop on" said the horse, and the scorpion did, and the horse began to ford the river. When they got to the middle, where the current was strong, the scorpion stung the horse. As he weakened and sank, he said:

"What did you do that for? Now we're both going to die!"

The scorpion just shrugged and replied: "Because it is my nature."
