Patri's Poetry
Besides fiction
and non-fiction, I have some
of my poetry online, for like most people, every now and then
I get that glimmer in my eye and I have to crawl into a corner
and scribble on scraps until the urge is satisfied. In the days
before the net, I would have kept my scrawlings confined to the
pages of a few battered notebooks, kept hidden under my mattress,
never to see the light of day. This is probably an excellent policy
for the amateur poet. Unfortunately, we live in the modern age,
where any wannabe Whitman can make his pathetic ramblings accessible
to zillions. Personally, I am terrible at resisting temptation,
and the fact that I can put things online seems more than enough
reason to do so. Hence the following:
- Betrothed
Stoner (Kipling Parody) - This is
a parody of a Kipling poem which didn't particularly need a parody,
but I felt like it. The original poem is about a man forced to
choose between his fiancee and his cigars, my version replaces
Tobacco with Marijuana. The target audience is rather small:
stoners who like Kipling, so if you qualify, read on!
- A father/Son Dialogue - an amusing little poem.
- Polyamory - short, but very, very, very to the point.
- Strangers
in the Night - a mood that I suspect
others can relate to.
- Lazy Observation - A mood that should be understood by any college
student who has been wandering idly towards their dorm when it
came time for others to go to class
- Notes in Math Class - this poem is what happens when you wake & bake
before going to an advanced mathematics class.
- All I ask - written for my college application
